The Pacific Tigers shot 58 percent from the floor Saturday night at the Spanos Center and blew out the visiting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders 89-60 to advance to the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
Pacific (17-15) took control of the game with a 14-2 run in the first half and led the Islanders (18-16) 46-28 at the half.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, out of the Southland Conference, had reached the second round with an 82-71 win at Northern Colorado on Wednesday, while Pacific pulled out a two-point win at Grand Canyon to reach the second round.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was 25-for-50 (50 percent) overall, 5-for-17 (29.4 percent) from deep and 5-for-18 (27.8 percent) at the foul line. Pacific was 35-for-60 (58.3 percent), 6-for-20 (30 percent) and 13-for-15 (86.7 percent).
The Tigers had an enormous edge on the glass, 37-21, and each team committed nine turnovers.
Pacific will await its quarterfinal pairing. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday.
