Report: Oakland Raiders Sign Free Agent T Rodger Saffold; 5 Years, $42.5 Million

According to a report, the Oakland Raiders have moved quickly to fill their void at left tackle, signing free agent Rodger Saffold to a five-year, $42.5 million deal.

The deal reportedly includes $21 million in guaranteed money. The Raiders had a void at left tackle after incumbent Jared Veldheer reportedly signed with the Arizona Cardinals.

Saffold was slowed by injuries the last three seasons after starting all 16 games at left tackle for the St. Louis Rams as a rookie in 2010. He was limited to 12 games and nine starts last season, starting at both tackle spots and also seeing some time at right guard.

The 6-foot-4, 312-pound Saffold was a second-round pick of the Rams out of Indiana in 2010.

The Rams wanted to bring Saffold back, according to reports, but wanted to move him to guard.
