NFL Rumors: Chicago Bears Target Lamarr Houston After Missing On Michael Bennett

According to a report, the Chicago Bears are now targeting Oakland Raiders free agent defensive end Lamarr Houston after Michael Bennett opted to re-sign with the Seattle Seahawks.

According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, via Twitter:

The Bears are looking to upgrade their pass rush, attempting to trade high-priced veteran Julius Peppers—who could be cut if no trade can be worked out.

Houston moved up quickly on the list of available pass rushers after Carolina opted to use its franchise tag on Greg Hardy and the Redskins doing the same with Brian Orakpo. Along with Michael Johnson of Cincinnati, Houston is about the best available option among defensive ends who are actually going to get to free agency on Tuesday.

Houston started every game for the Raiders last season, finishing with a career-high six sacks to go with 69 tackles and two forced fumbles. In four years with Oakland, Houston has 16 sacks, 228 tackles, four forced fumbles and an interception.

Houston was the Raiders second-round pick out of Texas in 2010.
