Golden Gate Sports continues to recap some of the best single-season performances in the history of the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants as we anticipate Opening Day.

Today, we look at the 10 best seasons by center fielders in the history of the Giants, dating to their arrival in San Francisco in 1958.

This is the sixth installment in the series on the Giants, as we’ve already listed the top 10 seasons for left field, relievers, catchers, second basemen and third basemen.

To qualify for this list, players needed 100 games at the position for the season in question. This requirement was not prorated for the strike-shortened seasons of 1981 or 1994.

Before you turn the page, here are the five seasons that just missed the cut (also, be prepared to see one name pop up pretty frequently in the top 10):

15. Willie Mays, 1967
14. Garry Maddox, 1973
13. Brett Butler, 1990
12. Willie Mays, 1970
11. Willie Mays, 1968
