The UC Davis Aggies lost a Big West Conference road game to the Cal. State Fullerton Titans 74-64 on Thursday. Junior Corey Hawkins reached 1,000 career points as an Aggie with a three-point play in the first half, but his scoring output wasn’t enough to overcome the Titans (8-15, 3-6 Big West). Hawkins led the Aggies (8-17, 3-7) with 21 points and shared the rebounding lead with freshman Brynton Lemar with five apiece. Hawkins also dished out four assists to lead the Aggies.
The Titans countered with 22 points from Alex Harris and 20 points from Michael Williams. Williams, Jared Brandon, Steve McClellan and James Johnson shared the rebounding load with five each, while Williams and Sheldon Blackwell dished out three assists apiece.
The Titans out-rebounded the Aggies 35-27, outscoring the Aggies 16-8 on second-chance points. The Titans were in control for the first half and led 42-32 at the intermission.
The Titans rode the 3-point shooting of Williams and Harris, while Hawkins received little support from his teammates in the scoring column. Georgi Funtarov and Darius Graham chipped in eight points apiece.
