Tim Ryan To Join Ted Robinson On San Francisco 49ers Broadcasts

The San Francisco 49ers announced Wednesday that former NFL player Tim Ryan will replace Eric Davis as the color analyst alongside play-by-play man Ted Robinson on their broadcasts.

Ryan, a San Jose native, played collegiately as USC before spending four years with the Chicago Bears. He has been an analyst for NFL on FOX for the last 12 seasons and also hosted on SiriusXM NFL Radio for the last 10.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Tim will be joining our broadcast team as we enter a new era of 49ers football at Levi’s Stadium,” 49ers president Paraag Marathe said in a statement. “His deep Bay Area roots and football acumen make him an ideal fit for the organization and our faithful fans.”

Davis told CSNBayArea.com that logistics involved with the 49ers planning to do more team-produced media along with his commitment as a host on “NFL AM” on the NFL Network just weren’t going to work.

“I loved the gig the past three years,” Davis said. “With the new in-house media format the team will have moving forward, they want their guys on site almost daily at the facilities. I couldn’t work (that) with my network gig. All’s good on both sides. Simple logistics.”

Davis spent the last three seasons in the booth for the 49ers, whom he played for from 1990-95, earning All-Pro honors at cornerback in his final season with the team. He started all 16 games and the postseason for the 1994 San Francisco team that won a Super Bowl title.
