Afure Jemerigbe scored on a layup with seven seconds to go and the 19th-ranked Cal Golden Bears remained unbeaten in Pac-12 Conference play with a 57-55 win at No. 17 Colorado Friday night.
Cal (11-3, 3-0 Pac-12) trailed by 10 points with less than six minutes to play before staging a rally at the Coors Events Center in Boulder, taking the lead with a pair of free throws by Courtney Range with 1:58 to go.
Arielle Roberson hit two free throws with 16 seconds left to put the Buffaloes (11-3, 1-2) back on top, but Jemerigbe got to the basket on a fast break to but the Golden Bears back on top. Range then stole the inbounds pass at midcourt and hit one of two free throws with two seconds left. Lexy Kresl missed a 3-pointer at the horn and Cal escaped with the win.
Reshanda Gray scored 15 points for the Golden Bears and Brittany Boyd tossed in 13 to go with three assists. Range had nine rebounds and two blocks and Justine Hartman had three assists.
Roberson led the Buffaloes with 21 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots. Jen Reese also had seven boards and Brittany Wilson dished out five assists.
The game was marked by poor shooting and harassing defense, as each team turned the ball over 16 times.
Cal was 23-for-58 (39.7 percent) overall, 1-for-9 (11.1 percent) from 3-point range and 10-for-20 (50 percent) from the foul line. Colorado went 21-for-56 (37.5 percent), 1-for-10 (10 percent) and 12-for-18 (66.7 percent).
The Golden Bears held a slim 40-39 edge on the glass.
Cal visits Utah on Sunday for a noon tipoff.
