The NBA announced Monday that David Lee of the Golden State Warriors was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the Dec. 30-Jan. 5 period, according to a press release.
Lee averaged 24.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while helping Golden State to four straight road wins last week. He had two double-doubles for the week, including a season-high tying 32 points to go with 14 rebounds in a win at Miami on Thursday.
Lee had 22 points and nine rebounds in a New Year’s Eve win at Orlando, posted 23 points and eight rebounds in Friday night’s win at Atlanta and had 21 points, 11 boards and six assists in Sunday’s win at Washington.
Other nominees this week included Pau Gasol of the Lakers, Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City and Goran Dragic of the Suns. Thaddeus Young of the Philadelphia 76ers was honored from the Eastern Conference.
For the season, Lee is averaging 19 points and 9.8 rebounds in 34.1 minutes per game.
