According to a report, the San Jose Sharks plan to recall forward Eriah Hayes from Worcester of the American Hockey League.
The Sharks are short-handed up front heading into Saturday afternoon’s game in Denver against the Colorado Avalanche. Tyler Kennedy will not play Saturday because of the flu and Tommy Wingels is out with an upper body injury, per CSNBayArea.com.
Additionally, Mike Brown didn’t practice Friday after he was hit with a pair of shots late in the win over the Edmonton Oilers Thursday night.
The problem with Hayes could be the brutal winter weather on the East Coast. The Boston area has been covered with nearly 11 inches of snow and temperatures are hovering around zero, cancelling hundreds of flights in and out of Boston’s Logan International Airport.
Hayes was signed as a free agent in April after completing his career with Minnesota State-Mankato, where he scored 20 goals and 36 points in 41 games as a senior. He had three goals and four points in seven games with Worcester to close out last year and in 29 games with the AHL Sharks this season, he has five goals and eight points to go with 25 minutes in penalties.
