According to CSNBayArea.com, Hertl will undergo surgery with Dr. Anthony Miniaci in Cleveland.
Even with not playing in 11 days, Hertl still leads NHL rookies in goals (15) and points (25). His plus-11 plus-minus rating is fourth among first-year players and his three game-winning goals is tied for second among rookies behind Tyler Toffoli of the Kings.
The team said it will have a better idea of the severity of the injury and a recovery timeline after the surgery on Tuesday.
The Sharks are currently second in the Pacific Division with 56 points, five behind the Anaheim Ducks. The Sharks beat the Ducks Sunday night 3-1 at the SAP Center and the teams will meet again Tuesday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
