The Docket: Gaels, Warriors To Make It A Christmas Hoops Sort Of Thing

Christmas is here and there will be both morning and evening basketball for your viewing pleasure. Saint Mary’s plays its final game in the Diamond Head Classic this morning and the Golden State Warriors get to wrap up the NBA’s holiday festivities against their Pacific Division rivals from Los Angeles (no, not those rivals, I mean the Clippers).

Here’s a look at the slate for today:

10:30 a.m. Pacific: Saint Mary’s vs. George Mason—Diamond Head Classic Seventh Place Game

The Saint Mary’s Gaels are still undefeated on the mainland, but they’re 0-2 at the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu.

They’ll go out Christmas morning and try to salvage one game on this trip when they take on the George Mason Patriots, who have lost to Iowa State and Oregon State in the tournament. This is a pretty big game for the Gaels, who don’t want to come home 9-3 after showing up to the islands with a 9-0 mark.

7:30 p.m. Pacific: Los Angeles Clippers at Golden State Warriors

The NBA’s Christmas Day quintupleheader wraps up with the Clippers and Warriors renewing acquaintances. This will be the first meeting of the year between the teams at Oracle Arena and the Clippers lead the season series 1-0 after a 126-115 win over the Dubs in L.A. on Halloween night.

The Warriors won the season series last year 3-1, taking both games in Oakland, and they haven’t lost to the Clips at home since Christmas Day 2011, the only other time the teams have met on Christmas Day.

Golden State leads the series 72-59 overall since the Clippers moved to Los Angeles in 1984, including a 41-24 mark as the home team.

Enjoy it now. The schedule is clear for Thursday.
