According to a report, there was at least one person hurt and 30 arrested Monday night at the last regular-season game at Candlestick Park.
CBS San Francisco reported that while police would not be releasing many details about Monday night’s extracurriculars at The ‘Stick, they did confirm there were incidents of vandalism and theft.
“There were some thefts of stadium property. … I know that some seats were destroyed (Monday night) … I know of some signs being taken off the wall,” San Francisco Police Department Sgt. Danielle Newman told CBS San Francisco.
Seven of the 30 arrested were cited for property destruction or drunkenness. Additionally, some fans were turned away from the game because their tickets were counterfeit.
In all, it’s about what you’d expect from an event of that type. In New York in 2008, police arrested more than a dozen people for stealing pieces of Yankee Stadium during the final game held there.
There will be the people wanting to grab their own piece of history, the people who just don’t know how to act and those who want to make a quick buck.
It could have been much worse.
