The Cal Golden Bears won their sixth straight game on Sunday, getting a career-high 18 points from Hind Ben Abdelkader in a 70-51 victory over the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners at Haas Pavilion.
Ben Abdelkader was 6-for-9 from 3-point range, scoring all of her points from deep.
The Golden Bears (7-2) struggled to pull away from the Roadrunners (3-6) early, as Cal led just 21-20 with 7:44 to go in the first half.
But the Bears went on a 14-0 run to take control of the game and closed the half on a high note when Brittany Shine buried a 3-pointer at the horn to put Cal up 39-24.
Reshanda Gray added 14 points for the Golden Bears. Brittany Boyd handed out 12 assists and Courtney Range grabbed eight rebounds.
Tyonna Outland led Cal State Bakersfield with 13 points and Shaquita Smith had 10 points and four assists. Batabe Zempare pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds for the Roadrunners.
Cal State Bakersfield was 19-for-65 (29.2 overall), 2-for-19 (10.5 percent) from 3-point range and 11-for-18 (61.1 percent) from deep.
Cal was 27-for-63 (42.9 percent), 11-for-27 (40.7 percent) and 5-for-9 (55.6 percent).
Both teams turned the ball over 15 times and the Roadrunners won the rebounding battle 43-41.
The Golden Bears play No. 1 Connecticut (10-0) in the Maggie Dixon Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York next Sunday. The game tips at 10 a.m. Pacific time.
