The Sacramento State Hornets got back on the winning track Saturday night at The Nest, running away from the William Jessup Warriors, 85-54.
Alex Tiffin led the Hornets (3-4) with 21 points and nine rebounds. Mikh McKinney added 14 points and five assists and Dylan Garrity also handed out five dimes.
Sacramento State led 50-28 at halftime and the second half was mostly about getting guys playing time—a total of 14 players saw action Saturday night for the Hornets.
For William Jessup (5-8), an NAIA school from nearby Rocklin, Kelton Newman scored 14 points and Corey Clement had 11 points and six rebounds. Caleb Richey handed out three assists.
The Warriors were 13-for-43 (30.2 percent) from the floor, 5-for-18 (27.8 percent) from deep and 23-for-34 (67.6 percent) from the line.
Sacramento State was 32-for-54 (59.3 percent), 8-for-16 (50 percent) and 13-for-20 (65 percent) and outrebounded the Warriors 38-27.
The Hornets hit the road next Saturday, visiting Cal State Fullerton (3-7) for a 3 p.m. Pacific tipoff.
