Sean Doolittle, the first baseman-outfielder turned relief pitcher who made 70 appearances in relief for the Oakland Athletics last season, has noticed there are some new faces in the American League West for 2014.

The Texas Rangers acquired slugger Prince Fielder from the Detroit Tigers last month and on Friday, Robinson Cano signed a reported 10-year deal with the Seattle Mariners.

Doolittle has a plan to help adjust to his new life, dealing with these two guys 19 times a year each.

Better to laugh than to cry, I suppose. It will be interesting to see if either of these high-profile additions can swing the balance of power in the division.

After all, they’re still trying to play catch up with the A’s.
