Sacramento Kings Recall Ray McCallum From Reno

The Sacramento Kings announced on Wednesday they had recalled rookie guard Ray McCallum from Reno of the NBA Developmental League.

The move was announced via the team’s official website.

McCallum was assigned to the Bighorns on Thursday and played three games for the team. He averaged a team-high 22 points per game to go with five rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals in 38 minutes a game.

He led Reno is scoring in all three games, including scoring 28 points in his professional debut on Friday at Sioux Falls. He scored 16 points on Saturday night at Sioux Falls and then had 22 points against the Santa Cruz Warriors on Tuesday.

McCallum was taken by the Kings in the second round of the June draft out of Detroit, where he was the Horizon League Player of the Year last season.   He had not played in any of Sacramento’s first 11 games before being sent to Reno.

If Ray gets PT, I hope he passes more. I watched a bit of the Warriors vs. Mavericks game last night and Dallas’ rookie PG Shane Larkin played 17 minutes, had 6 assists and 7 pts. it was a good game.

It can be the danger of drafting a kid like McCallum who was the do-everything guy for a smaller school. McCallum had the green light to do pretty much anything at Detroit, because his dad was also his coach.
