The San Francisco 49ers were probably thrilled that they would likely be facing Tennessee Titans’ backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday afternoon.

Instead, they’ll be looking to stop Jake Locker, who has made a quick recovery from knee and hip injuries suffered three weeks ago. According to Ian Rapoport, of the NFL Network, the Titans expect Locker to get the start tomorrow afternoon in Tennessee. Several other reports are confirming the decision.

Albert Breer of the NFL Network fills us in some more:

The Titans will have a bye week after this game, but they have decided to roll the dice and go with Locker anyway.

But who can blame them? With Fitzpatrick under center, the Titans have lost their last two games. Fitzpatrick has completed 52.6 percent of his passes for 526 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions this season.

Meanwhile, the Titans are 3-1 with Locker starting, with the only loss coming in overtime against the Texans. Locker has thrown for six touchdowns and no interceptions, completing 62.2 percent of his passes for 721 yards in four games.
