San Jose Sharks: Dan Boyle Leaves Game on Stretcher

During the first period of Tuesday’s game against the St. Louis Blues, defensemen Dan Boyle was taken off the ice after suffering a brutal hit to the head by Maxime Lapierre. Boyle’s head was awkwardly crushed into the boards while going for the puck. He was motionless on the ice before being taken off on a stretcher. Lapierre was ejected from the contest.

Sharks fans hope that this is not the last game for Boyle with San Jose, as he is in the final year of his contract.

He is very important to the dynamic of the team. It would hurt to see him out for an extended period of time. Does this mean moving Burns back to defense?

I think the Sharks are still alright for now on defense considering they had a seventh defenseman anyway. They’ve been rotating Stuart and Hannan as that seventh guy, so now it looks like both will be playing for the forseeable future.
