The San Francisco 49ers (3-2) will be taking on the Arizona Cardinals (3-2) at Candlestick Park on Sunday afternoon.
The 49ers are coming off of a strong home win last week against the Texans, when they routed Houston 34-3 on national television. Colin Kaepernick threw the ball just six times in the game, but the 49ers relied on their bread and butter — solid defense and the running game — to beat their opponent.
“The only stat I really care about is whether we won or not,” Kaepernick said after the game.
The Cardinals have been playing well this season under new head coach Bruce Arians and new quarterback Carson Palmer. They have won two straight after beating the Panthers 22-6 last week. However, Palmer has not fared so well, being intercepted seven times in the past three games. This is nothing but an open invitation for the 49ers defense to feast on Palmer and rack up some picks.
“That’s the silver lining so far is that through the problems, the interceptions or whatever, the lack of offense, he doesn’t get frustrated,” Arians said on Palmer. “He’s always on the bench with (assistant coaches) Tom (Moore) and Freddie (Kitchens), and going to the next series, and he stays very positive and lets it go.
“A lot of young guys, they keep reflecting and looking in the rear-view mirror, ‘I should’ve done this, I should’ve done that,’ but that’s over with. (Carson) knows how to go on to the next play.”
