Matt Flynn may not be out of work for long.
Flynn, who was released by the Oakland Raiders last week, is in Buffalo to work out with the Bills on Sunday, according to Adam Schefter and Mike Rodak of ESPN. The Bills are facing questions at the quarterback position, with starter E.J. Manuel sidelined with an injury and his replacement, Thad Lewis, also sustaining an injury on Sunday.
The Raiders released Flynn on Monday after he struggled mightily in his only start this season with the team. Filling in for the injured Terrelle Pryor, who snatched the starting job away from Flynn during training camp and the preseason. Flynn completed 21 of 32 passes for 227 yards, but was sacked seven times, fumbled once, and threw an interception for a pick-six in a 24-14 loss to the Redskins.
Flynn was demoted to third-string following the game, and now
he is gone entirely.
“I don’t know exactly what the reason was for why it didn’t work,” Raiders head coach Dennis Allen told CSN Bay Area. “It just didn’t work. Terrelle came in and took over the job. He’s earned the position that he’s in. We felt like it was best to move on from that.”
