San Jose Sharks To Be In Full Force For Tonight's Preseason Game

The San Jose Sharks will play at the newly named SAP Center tonight for the first time against the visiting Anaheim Ducks.

Althought it is just a preseason game, the Sharks will be out in full force for the first time the season after bringing just half of their starting squad to Vancouver for their first game of the preseason.  They won that game 3-2.

The line combinations had been set for the most part with the first line made up of Logan Couture, Patrick Marleau, and Tyler Kennedy, although we are now hearing Marleau may not play due to personal matters.  If he cannot play tonight, there are reports that Anthony Stewart, who is here on a tryout basis, may step into his spot on the wing.

The second line, centered by Joe Thornton, will also consist of Brent Burns and rookie Tomas Hertl.  Hertl played in that first game in Vancouver and looked good playing alongside Joe Pavelski.

Others playing their first game tonight are Raffi Torres as well as starting goaltender Antti Niemi, with Niemi expected to play the full 60 minutes.  Harri Sateri, the other goaltender vying for backup duties against Alex Stalock, will most likely start Saturday’s preseason game.

While these lines have been set for the start, do not be surprised if things change quickly though as the coaching staff tries to find the best line combinations for the start of the season.

Also debuting tonight will be their new home jerseys called ‘The Next Wave’ which have garnered mixed reviews.
