San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks: Live Game Thread

It’s the matchup we’ve all been waiting for: the San Francisco 49ers taking on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football, and you can participate right here on our live game thread while watching or listening to the game.

Two dominant teams — arguably the two best teams in the NFL — will face off against each other, adding another chapter to a bitter rivalry that has burgeoned in recent years.

It is no secret that these two teams don’t like each other. Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll have history dating back to their college days, and the Seahawks are upset that Harbaugh went off about their PED-related issues earlier in the offseason.

The trash talking has been abundant all week, with Anthony Dixon calling the Seahawks “She-hawks,” and K.J Wright responded with a “forty-whiners” taunt back Dixon’s way.

Here’s all the info you need to know about the game:

Any predictions for tonight’s game? Who shaves off an eyebrow?

  • Robert Carter

I think the Niners are slightly better, but Seattle is a tough atmoshpere. Niners win 24 – 20

  • Maggie Pilloton

Who’s got it better than us??

    • goldenbaysports

      Not the Shehawks!

  • Robert Carter

Not a great start. They want to avoid to try playing from behind, so the crowd can get taken out of this early.

  • goldenbaysports

They went no huddle because they can’t hear anything in the huddle anyway

  • Maggie Pilloton

Well, good start for the defense…

  • goldenbaysports

lol seahawks fans hurting their own team

  • Robert Carter

Niners seem to be trying a lot harder to establish the run. Winning in the trenches is going to be the key for the game.

    ERIC REID!

First penalty due to noise called on Niners

  • Robert Carter

Big Glen Dorsey doing what he did in college… penetrate and pass rush

  • Robert Carter

Great series by the defense to prevent the Seahawks from grabbing some momentum, especially following that pass interference penalty.

  • Cameron Bothwell

    and now we wait…

  • goldenbaysports

Game will be delayed due to weather. Rain/lightning in Seattle

  • goldenbaysports

Last time the 49ers played in a game that was suspended was the Super Bowl. Ray Lewis probably thinks this is also a conspiracy.

  • Robert Carter

Niners do seem to play better in the 2nd half, so who knows this break could allow them to make some adjustments early. They do not seem like they are that far off from getting something moving on offense. Also, this could help to take the crowd out of it.

    • goldenbaysports

Definitely. Go back to the NFC Championship game in Atlanta and the Super Bowl.

  • Maggie Pilloton

Ian Williams reportedly has a broken ankle.

    • Robert Carter

That hurts, as they were already thin in the middle

  • Robert Carter

    Game restarts at 7:05 pst

  • Robert Carter

Niners almost got a gift on that bad snap

  • Robert Carter

    Aldon Smith Stat Tracker: 2.5

    • goldenbaysports

He’ll have a few more of those tonight with Okung out

  • goldenbaysports

Of course, the first points scored in the game come in the second quarter on a safety for holding in the end zone

  • Maggie Pilloton

    Golden Tate irritates me.

  • Robert Carter

Niners catch a break on the no call. Smith looked like he was in the neutral zone.

  • Robert Carter

    Offense just looks lackadaisical

  • Robert Carter

The interior of the defensive line is just mauling the Seahawks

  • Robert Carter

Defense is doing great job of limiting the Seahawks on these turnovers. If the offense can get any rhythm the Niners still have an excellent shot at taking this game.

  • Maggie Pilloton

Is there a reason why they’re not using Kendall Hunter more?

    • Robert Carter

He is not as good as Gore in pass protection

      • Maggie Pilloton

Gore has 4 yards on 6 attempts. Why not give Hunter at least a few attempts?

        • Robert Carter

It is more on the line than it is on Gore. Seattle is getting solid push on runs and on passes.

  • Maggie Pilloton

Frank Gore: 6 rush attempts, 4 yards

  • Maggie Pilloton

Eric Reid just got pounded. Good call for unsportsmanlike conduct.

  • Aaron Candelaria

If Eric Reid got more than a stinger, that will hurt the defense. Looks like maybe a shoulder.

  • Aaron Candelaria

    Craig Dahl now filling in.

  • Robert Carter

Aldon Smith Sack Tracker UPDATE: 3.5

  • Aaron Candelaria

End of the half and the game looks like a baseball score at 5-0. I expect Harbaugh and Co. to make some major adjustments on offense.

  • Robert Carter

For as bad as the defense has been, it has to be a win for the Niners to be down only 5 at half time. Plenty of time to turn this around.

  • Aaron Candelaria

Seattle has more rush yards (109) than the 49ers have total yards (62) in that first half.

  • Aaron Candelaria

I think the 49ers need to stack the box and force Wilson to throw. He only had 2 completions in the first half.

  • Robert Carter

Just a lot of bone headed mistakes on both sides of the ball by the Niners

    • Aaron Candelaria

Hopefully the defense can stay strong and hold the Seahawks to just a FG.

  • Aaron Candelaria

Well, after that touchdown the 49ers need some sort of score here, even if it is just a field goal.

  • Aaron Candelaria

Vance McDonald ladies and gentlemen!! Richard who?!

  • Maggie Pilloton

49ers finally get on the board!

  • Robert Carter

The defense needs a stop or a turnover and another solid scoring drive can switch the momentum quickly in this one

  • Aaron Candelaria

I guess we are going to have a penalty on every play. I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a Raiders game with this many flags…

  • Aaron Candelaria

Can’t fault the 49ers for the blitz but now they have a HUGE hole that I’m not sure they can dig themselves out of.

  • Aaron Candelaria

105 penalty yards by the 49ers versus 152 total yards on offense…

  • Robert Carter

A home and home split is not the worst for the Niners. Just need to take care of the rest of the west.

  • Maggie Pilloton

Vernon Davis is now done for the night. Injuries are piling up.

  • Maggie Pilloton

    Ok, don’t look now…but Anquan Boldin made a catch…

  • Aaron Candelaria

Man Kyle Williams took a shot, had tons of room and blockers in front if he could’ve gotte by Sherman.

  • Aaron Candelaria

Apparently the refs don’t want to go home… they look they are enjoying throwing the flags wayyy too much.

  • Maggie Pilloton

    Say bye to Kap’s eyebrow.

  • Alvin Chandra

BREAKING NEWS: The FBI has been called in by Seattle PD in the murder involving the Seahawks and Niners. The FBI claims jurisdiction based on the victim having to cross state lines.

  • Aaron Candelaria

Aaaand the post-game handshake proves to be uneventful.
