Earlier today the San Francisco 49ers announced that they have activated tight-end/ defensive tackle Demarcus Dobbs from the reserve/suspended list.

In order to make room for him the team has also announced it is waiving defensive tackle Will Tukuafu.  This comes as no surprise considering Tukuafu was one of seven inactives for the 49ers game against the Packers this past Sunday.

Dobbs in being activated because he was suspended for the first game of the season due to violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.  He was arrested on November 30th, which was his 25th birthday, for suspicion of DUI and possession of marijuana.

In more news for the San Francisco 49ers, both Eric Reid and Colin Kaepernick have been nominated for awards.  Eric Reid was nominated for Pepsi’s Rookie of the Week while Colin Kaepernick was nominated for FedEx’s Air Player of the Week.

Reid had a great first game for the 49ers racking up six tackles and an interception.

Kaepernick, who is known for his running ability, ending the game with just 22 rush yards on seven carries.  He did end the game with 412 passing yards completing 27 of his 32 passes and three touchdowns.  After all that hype about the Packers spending all offseason game planning against the read-option, it was through the air where they were torched.
