Reports have been out there all day, but now the San Francisco 49ers have officially released 21 players to get down to a 53-man roster.

Here is the list of players who were sent home on Saturday:

  • T Carter Bykowski
  • WR Austin Collie
  • CB Marcus Cooper
  • TE MarQueis Gray
  • WR Chad Hall
  • RB Jewel Hampton
  • WR Lavelle Hawkins
  • LB Joe Holland
  • WR Chuck Jacobs
  • LS Brian Jennings
  • LB Travis Johnson
  • CB Darryl Morris
  • OL Patrick Omameh
  • WR Kassim Osgood
  • NT Mike Purcell
  • S Trenton Robinson
  • FB Jason Schepler
  • S Michael Thomas
  • OL Wayne Tribue
  • QB Seneca Wallace
  • T Kenny Wiggins
*TE/DT Demarcus Dobbs placed on the Reserve/Suspended List. Dobbs was suspended one game for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

What’s also interesting to look at are the players on the bubble who didn’t get cut. CSN Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco points out four players who made the cut: DT Tony Jerod-Eddie, LB Nate Stupar, S Bubba Ventrone, and LS Kevin McDermott. McDermott will take over the long-snapping duties after the 49ers released veteran Brian Jennings.

The 49ers will also keep seven rookies and 10 linebackers on their roster, with Cam Johnson and Stupar remaining on the squad. However, one of those linebackers may have to go if the 49ers sign FB Owen Marecic. Kyle Bonagura reported earlier today that the 49ers would sign Marecic, who Jim Harbaugh coached at Stanford.
