In an effort to reach their 75-man limit, and cut as few players as possible after signing kicker Justin Medlock, the Raiders made several roster moves Tuesday.
It was reported that Medlock worked out for the Raiders on Monday after long-time starter Sebastian Janikowski sustained an injury in the Raiders’ Friday night game against the Chicago Bears.
Rookie cornerback Mitchell White was the only player cut.
Linebacker Miles Burris was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, with corner Joselio Hanson and running back Latavius Murray both being placed on injured reserve (IR), which will end their seasons. Burris can return after six weeks, but no earlier.
Murray recently underwent arthroscopic surgery on his ankle after injuring it early on in the preseason. He was drafted in the sixth round of 2013 NFL draft, and it was a surprise to see him go on IR, with many expecting him to contribute this year.
Justin Medlock is a bay area native having played at Mission San Jose High School in Fremont. He played in 10 games last season for the Carolina Panthers making seven of his 10 field goal attempts. He also has a history in the CFL and in 2011 had a great season with the Hamilton Tiger Cats making 49 of 55 field goal attempts.
