Bay Area Buzz 8/25: Crisp Propels A's, Lincecum Gets a Win, Raiders Should Turn to Pryor

Crisp Propels A’s in Pitching Duel

After Jarrod Parker and Chris Tillman waged a magnificent pitching duel for eight innings, it became apparent that a tense matchup between the Oakland Athletics and Baltimore Orioles was going to be decided by each team’s bullpen.

Coco Crisp had a say in the matter, too.

Crisp hit a tiebreaking homer off Darren O’Day leading off the ninth, providing Oakland with a 2-1 victory Saturday and handing Parker his eighth straight win.

Lincecum Gets a Win

No one knows at this point if we’re watching the end of the Tim Lincecum Era as a Giant. It’s entirely possible, though, that he might have just a few more starts at AT&T Park.

After all, as an impending free agent, it’s going to be his decision about where he wants to continue his baseball career. But if Lincecum can be lobbied into sticking around, the right-hander admitted after Saturday night’s 6-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates that Giants fans will have had a powerful voice.

Raiders Need to Turn to Pryor

Just give Terrelle Pryor the ball.

Just let him do with it what he may. We don’t know what he would do. That’s the point. It might be awful, but it would certainly be worth the Oakland Raiders’ while.

If Pryor can parlay his wonderful natural athleticism into becoming an effective quarterback, the Raiders’ rebuilding phase could be short. Nothing is an elixir for a growing program like a dynamic, young quarterback. And if Pryor is not the answer, so be it. The Raiders could then move forward and add quarterback to their enormous list of needs.
