Alex Smith never did anything wrong for the San Francisco 49ers, but he was benched because of Colin Kaepernick’s superb play. However, he found a starting gig in Kansas City.

And now, he will clash with the 49ers, albeit in a meaningless game.

The Kansas City Chiefs, piloted by none other than Smith, will take on Jim Harbaugh’s 49ers at 5:00 PM PT on Friday. The game will be played at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs, and it will be San Francisco’s and Kansas City’s second preseason game.

Kaepernick and the offense will likely play one series, and they will be followed by backups vying for desirable spots on the roster. The same goes with the defense, which will also be limited. However, the wide receivers won’t be limited, as the position battle is up in the air.

Watching the 49ers take on the Chiefs will be interesting, as position battles are present at multiple positions. To see these position battles, you will have to tune into KPIX for the game. Complete postgame coverage will be up on Golden Gate Sports after the game.
