Golden State Warriors power forward David Lee has been the subject of trade rumors this offseason, dating back to reports that came out in June
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported back then that the Warriors had offered Lee to the Raptors for Andrea Bargnani, then to the Trail Blazers for LaMarcus Aldridge.
Lee, however, believes those rumors are false and is looking forward to remaining in Golden State.
“From what I’m told from our people, those are not true,” Lee told Mark Berman of the New York Post. “Of course in the offseason, everyone’s always available. But we’ll see what happens. Being in New York, I understand nothing is forever. Anybody is always capable of being moved anywhere. But I’m excited about the next couple of years with this team.’’
It’s been no secret that the Warriors are not a big fan of his fairly large contract. Lee has three years and $44 million remaining on his deal, so it would make sense financially for the Warriors to make a trade given the right situation.
Lee averaged 18.5 points and 11.2 rebounds for the Warriors last season, and is one of the leaders of the team. He was also the first Warrior to make the All-Star team in over a decade.
