Many reports are indicating that 49ers’ second-string cornerback, Chris Culliver, has torn his ACL and is now out for the whole year. This isn’t good news for the Niners, because Culliver was actually showing some potential as a defender. He fell in a one-on-one coverage drill, and was ‘carted’ off the field. He was scheduled to have an MRI immediately, and it revealed a torn ACL.
A league source told Adam Schefter that Culliver had torn his ACL, and there is no scheduled date for his surgery. He wasn’t a huge piece to the Niners’ defense, but he showed glimpses of good play when he was in the game. He got some good minutes and was showing improvement in training camp, which could have led to more time in the future.
49ers CB Chris Culliver did tear his left ACL. No date for surgery set yet. He will miss this season.

Jim Harbaugh told the press in an interview that Culliver was scheduled for surgery, but none foresaw that it was this bad. Torn ACLs have been a huge problem in the past couple of year in sports. Whether it’s basketball or football, nobody really wants to hear news like this. We wish him a speedy recovery!
