Brian Wilson is loved by San Francisco Giants fans for his contributions to the team’s 2010 World Series title. However, he might not be loved when Wilson chooses his new team.
According to CSN Bay Area, the Los Angeles Dodgers are the frontrunners to sign Wilson. Wilson underwhelmed scouts when he threw in the offseason, so he decided to rehab more and wait until he got comfortable to throw. He is now comfortable throwing and almost back to normal, and he has received a lot of interest from contenders.
The Giants want him, and teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates and Arizona Diamondbacks crave him. However, Wilson, who was trying to avoid an incentive-based contract last offseason, might end up with San Francisco’s rivals.
Wilson hasn’t pitched since April 12, 2012, when he registered what might have been his final save with the Giants. Wilson saved 54 games (including the playoffs) in 2010, and he posted a marvelous 1.81 ERA. Wilson has a 3.21 career ERA.
Which team will Wilson help down the stretch? Stay tuned as we follow this story.
