The MLB non-waiver trade deadline is on Wednesday at 1:00 pm, and the Oakland Athletics are right in the thick of rumors as we near it.
One guy they won’t be trading for, however, is Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy.
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the A’s are no longer pursuing Peavy and instead looking at other options to boost their bullpen or middle infield.
Just yesterday, reports circulated that the A’s were frontrunners for Peavy, who acknowledged on Sunday that he will likely be with a different team come August 1st.
“It is sad to think that this is probably my last day in here,” Peavy told ESPN. “We all realize the reality of the situation and I am prepared with that to happen soon.”
The A’s could use some help at second base, but Eric Sogard has been playing very well as of late.
Rumors are flying all over the place talking about who the A’s might get, because the truth is, nobody really knows. GM Billy Beane has a way of manipulating people to feel a certain way, then pull off a big trade out of nowhere. That’s part of how he has been so successful at managing a small market team.
