The Oakland A’s have done just fine without Brett Anderson, but he could provide a much-needed boost to a contending team very soon.
According to CSN Bay Area’s Paul Gutierrez, Anderson could throw off a mound soon. Anderson hasn’t pitched since April 29, and he has been on the DL since May 1. The A’s have been fine with Jarrod Parker, Dan Straily, Bartolo Colon, A.J. Griffin and Tommy Milone, but Anderson, who posted a superb 2.57 ERA in six starts last season, could help.
His foot injury has hampered him, but his absence is nearing an end. The A’s need him to step up, as their rotation lacks an ace and could suffer from the loss of Colon (due to a potential suspension). If Anderson suffers a setback, it could cost the A’s.
While Anderson has an inflated 6.21 ERA this season, he started on Opening Day and was a valuable asset last season. This is certainly good news for the A’s and their fans.
