Bay Area Buzz 7/13: A Winning Streak for Giants, A's Silenced, 49ers Trolling Fans

Stop the Presses! Giants Win Two in a Row

Back in April, when they raised their 2012 World Series championship banner, who could have imagined that the Giants winning two games in a row would be a big story?

Stick a big headline on it. Behind five RBIs from Buster Posey, the Giants walloped the Padres 10-1 Friday night and have consecutive wins for the first time since they accomplished it against the Padres at home June 18 and 19.

A’s Silenced by Red Sox, Lackey

Call it a scheduling quirk, coincidence, whatever, but the A’s will enter the All-Star game break with a pretty fair idea of what awaits them if they make it to the postseason again based on their most recent opponents.

On Friday night they got their latest look at the Boston Red Sox, the team with best record in the American League. The Red Sox looked every bit as good as they did the first time the teams met when they took two of three, beating the A’s 4-2.

49ers-Seahawks Rivalry Intensifies on Waives

If the 49ers and Seahawks are not trolling fans at this point, I’d be at least a little bit surprised. The NFL released their daily transaction report, and the 49ers claimed wide receiver Charly Martin from the Seahawks. This move comes two days after the Seahawks claimed long snapper/tight end Kyle Nelson from the 49ers. I’m sure there are legitimate reasons for these moves, but once in a while I like to think the two teams know their fans don’t like each other, and so they just troll them a little bit.
