Poll of the Day: Should We Care That Colin Kaepernick Wore a Miami Dolphins Hat?

We’re in the dog days of summer, and football fans are dying for anything to talk about.

So when San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was seen wearing a Miami Dolphins hat, it set up the perfect storm, as social media was abuzz about the up-and-coming star.

Here is a picture of Kaepernick celebrating Fourth of July at the beach, sporting a Dolphins cap:

Criticism was abundant after the photos were released, with people castigating him for wearing the colors of a different team.

But should we really care? Are we this bored?

Here are some reasons for both sides:

Why We Should Care

It’s obvious why people are upset. Kaepernick is the quarterback of the 49ers, not the Dolphins. So why isn’t he wearing a 49ers hat?

It would be different if he was seen sporting colors of the Miami Heat or Miami Marlins, because he doesn’t play those sports. But he plays in the NFL, and competes against the Dolphins, so there is no excuse for him to do this.

I mean, imagine if Buster Posey was wearing a Dodgers hat.

Why We Shouldn’t Care

It’s a freakin’ hat.

It’s not like he’s publicly voicing his support for the Dolphins, or looking to force a trade to play in Miami.

He was simply in Miami over the Fourth of July holiday, and wore a hat that represented the city of Miami.

I’ll let Kaepernick himself explain:

This the hat y’all mad at? I’m goin wear what I want regardless of what you think, all you need to worry about is the fact that I grind for my teammates and the 49ers! I plan on doin this until they won’t let me in the building! #ridiculous#y‘allmustbebored

Seriously. Ya’ll really must be bored.

It was a stupid thing to do. I had the impression that Kap was smarter than that.

not a great move but so long as his helmet says SF in Sept no big deal

It will only concern me in about 3 years when he is due a contract until that day he can wear what ever as long as on game day he wears a Niners jersey on the outside.

Look,.Its not his fault,.He knows the Dolphins are about to BLOW UP the NFL and dominate for years, and become a dynasty,.He just wants to be on the BANDWAGON like everyone else,.I don’t blame him for it,.So don’t hate him for it

Finally, somebody else that truly understands that the Dolphins are about to retake their rightful place at the top of the NFL. I am going with 10+ wins, sweep Bills/Jets, and going 1-1 with the Pats. Miami will take the division.
