Nnamdi Asomugha is a newlywed, and his wife may turn a few heads.
The San Francisco 49ers cornerback tied the knot with actress and TV star Kerry Washington in late June, as first reported by TerezOwens.com. The site reported that the pair had been dating since the summer of 2012.
Washington is the lead actress in the ABC drama “Scandal,” and is the first African-American female lead in a network drama in almost 40 years. She has also appeared in critically acclaimed films such as Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Django Unchained, and Little Man.
Asomugha signed a one-year deal worth up to $3 million with the 49ers during the offseason.
Bay Area fans may remember him more for his time with the Raiders, when he was regarded by many as the best cornerback in all of football.
Drafted in the first round in 2003 by Al Davis, his accolades in Oakland include a three-time Pro Bowl selection, and four-time All Pro team membership. He was also the Raiders team MVP in 2006 and 2008.
However, in 2011, he departed from Oakland for Philadelphia, signing a five-year, $60 million contract. Asomugha struggled with the Eagles, and was released earlier this offseason.
Asomugha recorded 47 tackles and one interception in 16 games with the Eagles last season.
Little did we know, but Asomguha also has some acting experience. He has appeared in TV series’ Friday Night Lights, The Game, and Leverage, as well as producing a short film called Double Negative.
