“I think it is a great division,” he said on the NFL Network, when asked about the rivalry between the 49ers and Seahawks. “You have a team like Seattle who is coming up. They are building a dynasty over there. They have some good players over there who are eager to win. These guys are starving. We have to really keep that in mind because these guys are coming to take us out.”
It should be noted that Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll had some nice words about the 49ers a week ago, saying:
They’re a great program. They’ve done a marvelous job since Jim took over and they’ve done it all on the field. We respect that our division has really changed. We’ve changed along with it, and every single game we play is the biggest rival that we would ever know. … They’ve done some really cool things and play exciting football, and we love matching up with the division.
These comments contrast those of the Seahawks’ Brandon Browner and Golden Tate, who both recently appeared on Seattle radio stations and were asked about Harbaugh’s interesting comments regarding the Seahawks’ PED-related issues and suspensions.
Browner said that he wanted to wring Harbaugh’s neck if he were on the field against him, and Tate said he would give Harbaugh the “Sean Lee treatment,” referring to when he decked the Cowboys’ linebacker with a vicious block.
One thing’s for certain: the 49ers-Seahawks rivalry is just heating up, and it will be very entertaining to watch these teams battle it out next season.
