Chad Gaudin wasn’t dominant with the Miami Marlins in 2012, but he dominated early in the season as a reliever.
However, since moving into the rotation, the San Francisco Giants’ fifth starter hasn’t done well. He looked terrible in his last start against the Atlanta Braves, and he hasn’t been extremely sharp as a starter. Gaudin has never done a great job as a starter, and he hasn’t done too well lately. His ERA as a starter (three games) is 4.24.
He’ll go up against Tom Koehler, who is listed as a reliever. Koehler is 0-5 with a 5.09 ERA, and he’s coming off of a start in which he gave up nine runs. Koehler and Gaudin are in similar situations, but Gaudin has been better. Overall, Gaudin boasts a 2.83 ERA.
The Giants haven’t won three in a row since they took three straight games from the Braves in early May, and the Marlins are all that stands in the way of them doing that. However, the Marlins swept the Giants last year and have done very well against the Giants recently.
Can the Marlins, who are 22-49 but went 5-2 against the Giants last year, avoid their 50th loss? Can the Giants win their third straight and gain ground on the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks? Find out when first pitch is thrown at 7:15 PM PST, and stay tuned for complete postgame coverage.
