Golden State Warriors: Has Brandon Rush Been Forgotten?

For the Warriors, it was devastating to see their leading bench scorer go out in the second game of the season. When Brandon Rush went to go smash it on Zach Randolph, he fell down awkwardly, and tore his ACL completely. Luckily, he was cleared to play by training camp. Hopefully for the Warriors, he won’t be anything like Derrick Rose, and will actually comeback.

That leaves a problem, however. Basking in the success, have the fans forgotten about him? The Warriors may have been excited when they made the playoffs, but how would Rush have effected that? First of all, he was a crowd-pleaser. That we know. Now, however, he may just be a reserve scorer like Jarrett Jack, and them two will compete for minutes.

Of course, if the Warriors re-sign Jack, that’s going to be problematic. The Warriors did win the first game of the season with both of them playing, but there’s no guarantee that both of them are going to average double digits. The question now becomes which do you give more playing time to? Jack was third in the running for 6th Man of the Year, but everyone loves Rush!

It’s going to be very interesting to see which of these two guys will get more minutes, especially because they can both score the basketball. Of course, Rush is an off-the-ball player, and Jack is a 1v1 master. Their game play is much different, but can the Warriors afford to close out games with one of these two on the bench?
