The San Jose Earthquakes continued their theme of late-game magic in a 1-1 tie against the Colorado Rapids at home on Saturday night.
The Rapids got on the board first on a volley by Nate Sturgis off of a corner kick.
In the 78th minute, though, a free kick from the Quakes’ Martin Chavez knuckled into the back of the net to tie things up.
With the tie, the Quakes extend their home unbeaten streak to seven consecutive games, but will now embark on a long road trip. They are currently on the outside of the playoff picture, sitting in seventh with 15 points on the season.
