NFL Free Agency: Josh Cribbs Weighing His Options, Raiders Among Four Teams Interested

Free agent wide receiver Josh Cribbs is a hot commodity on the market, having piqued the interest of four teams.

He visited with the Lions on Monday, and has met with the Raiders, Giants, and Jets. According to ProFootballTalk, he will sign with one of those teams.

In fact, the Raiders offered him a contract after he passed a physical, and it is unclear whether other teams have put forth an offer.

Cribbs was actually close to signing with the Cardinals earlier in the offseason, but concern over a torn meniscus caused them to back out. He is now healthy and apparently drawing the interest of teams around the league.

Cribbs was among the top 10 returners in the league for punts and kickoffs last season for the Browns.

In 38 punt returns last season, Cribbs recorded 457 yards. He also had 1178 yards on 43 kickoff returns.

“Cribbs has very good quickness, good initial burst and good straight-line speed,” says ESPN Boston’s Field Yates. “He’s a sufficient route runner, but doesn’t run an extensive tree. He is at his best on routes that come back toward the line of scrimmage, as he is able to use his length and frame (6-foot-1, 215 pounds) to leverage and wall off defenders. He has short, choppy steps at the top of his routes and doesn’t extend from defensive backs, but can win in competitive catch situations with his frame.”

Cribbs is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All Pro selection.
