NFL Free Agency: WR Josh Cribbs Visiting Lions After Meeting with Raiders, Jets, Giants

The hottest commodity on the NFL free agent market right now is undoubtedly wide receiver Josh Cribbs.

After meeting with the Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, and New York Giants earlier this week, Cribbs is headed to Detroit to meet with the Lions, according to CBSSports’ Jason LaCanfora.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Cribbs passed a physical for his knee with the Raiders, and was offered to become a member of the Silver and Black.

Cribbs was actually close to signing with the Cardinals earlier in the offseason, but concern over a torn meniscus caused them to back out. He is now healthy and apparently drawing the interest of teams around the league.

Cribbs was among the top 10 returners in the league for punts and kickoffs last season for the Browns.

In 38 punt returns last season, Cribbs recorded 457 yards. He also had 1178 yards on 43 kickoff returns.

“Cribbs has very good quickness, good initial burst and good straight-line speed,” says ESPN Boston’s Field Yates. “He’s a sufficient route runner, but doesn’t run an extensive tree. He is at his best on routes that come back toward the line of scrimmage, as he is able to use his length and frame (6-foot-1, 215 pounds) to leverage and wall off defenders. He has short, choppy steps at the top of his routes and doesn’t extend from defensive backs, but can win in competitive catch situations with his frame.”

Cribbs is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All Pro selection.
