Giants Look to Lock Up Series With Bumgarner on the Hill

The San Francisco Giants haven’t received much consistency from the pitching staff, but Madison Bumgarner has been an exception.

Bumgarner threw 7.1 innings of one-run ball in his last start, which was against the Diamondbacks. Bumgarner is 3-0 with a 1.87 ERA this year, and he has easily been San Francisco’s best starter. Bumgarner looks to finish off the month of April with a bang when he takes the hill tonight.

Arizona will send Trevor Cahill to the mound to oppose Bumgarner. Cahill has performed well, but his 1-3 record would suggest otherwise. Cahill, who has lost three games already, looks to avoid a fourth loss against a pitcher who hasn’t lost a single game.

Both offenses have done well this year, and Pablo Sandoval is red-hot for the Giants. Gerardo Parra was in the midst of a 13-game hitting streak for Arizona, but it was snapped on Monday night. Arizona managed three home runs off of Matt Cain, but the Giants were able to snap out of their funk and win a game for the first time in a week.

Can Buster Posey continue his 10-game hitting streak? Can Pablo Sandoval stay hot? Can the Giants lock up a series win for the first time since April 19-21 against the San Diego Padres? Find out at 6;40 PM PST when first pitch is thrown.
