Things haven’t gone too well lately for the San Francisco Giants.
San Francisco is currently in the midst of a five-game losing streak, and they have lost those games by a total of seven runs. In the first game of the streak against Arizona, Matt Cain gave up four runs. Three of those runs were earned, and those runs proved costly in San Francisco’s loss.
Ian Kennedy, who opposed Madison Bumgarner and helped the Diamondbacks win the final game of the series in San Francisco, will start for Arizona. Kennedy has a 4.70 ERA on the year, which is better than Cain’s 6.59 ERA. San Francisco is 0-5 in Cain’s starts this year.
The 13-12 Giants look to change that trend against Arizona, who is tied for first place at 15-10. The Giants are still performing well on offense, as Pablo Sandoval is hitting .316 and the Giants are seventh in batting average. However, Arizona has scored more than San Francisco, as they are riding the hot bat of Gerardo Parra.
These two teams are headed in opposite directions, but the Giants are still just two games behind the D-Backs. Arizona, who has won five of six games, is looking to stay on the right track with their ace, while the Giants will try to get back on the right track with the guy who was believed to be the team’s ace at the start of the season.
Can the Giants bounce back? The game starts at 6:40 PM PST, and complete postgame coverage will be up after the game.
