Nate Montana went undrafted over the weekend, but could still have a shot at joining the 49ers.

The son of legendary 49ers quarterback Joe Montana, Nate will accept an invitation to try out at the 49ers’ minicamp on May 10-12.

“He’s going there and hopefully get a contract,” said his agent, Marty Magid.

Nate, also a quarterback, played for a different college each of his four years. Last year was undoubtedly his best while playing for West Virginia Wesleyan, completing 225/436 passes for 2480 yards and 19 touchdowns.

However, he will have to prove himself if he wants to compete at the next level.

I say heck yes. Everyone needs to forget that he is Montana’s son. He is just another QB trying to make the team, frankly I think Montana should also try his hand at TE and even a defensive position, he must have good footwork, I heard he was a pretty good basketball player. It will become evident if he has a career in football if he willingly accepts the challenge of those positions to show off his physical toughness along with showing off his QB skills. Maybe the shock of the draft will be if Nate Montana makes the team as the 3rd round QB? That would be great.
