2013 NFL Draft: San Francisco Adds More Depth at Outside Linebacker with Nick Moody

The San Francisco 49ers already have Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks at outside linebacker, but they have an abundance of draft picks to use. So, they spent one on another outside linebacker.

After picking Corey Lemonier in the third round, the 49ers added another outside linebacker by picking Nick Moody out of Florida State. Moody only accumulated 20 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2012, so he isn’t an extremely impactful player. The 49ers have fulfilled lots of needs already, so this pick, like many of their upcoming picks, is primarily for depth.

Moody will likely start the season buried in the depth chart. We’ll see if Moody, who is light by NFL standards (237 pounds), can ascend the ranks of the depth chart.
