Scratch out all the mock drafts, all the expert predictions, and all the chatter, because we could be in for a shock as the NFL Draft begins in less than three hours.
Jason LaCanfora of CBSSports reports that several league executives believe the Oakland Raiders will select cornerback D.J. Hayden third overall. Hayden was projected to be selected in the late first round in recent mock drafts.
You may remember Hayden, who collided with a teammate at practice last years and severed his inferior vena cava, nearly killing him. Fortunately he survived, and not only is he ok, he is also projected to be a late first round or early second round pick in the upcoming draft.
Hayden, a cornerback, transferred to Houston after two years at Navorro College. He earned All-Conference USA honors last year despite the injury.
The Raiders’ top priority remains trading down, but again, the report indicates that Hayden is still their main target.
