2013 NFL Draft: Oakland Raiders Select CB D.J. Hayden at No. 12

The Oakland Raiders have selected cornerback D.J. Hayden out of Houston with the 12th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

You may remember Hayden, who collided with a teammate at practice last years and severed his inferior vena cava, nearly killing him. Fortunately he survived, and not only is he ok, he is also projected to be a late first round or early second round pick in the upcoming draft.

Hayden, a cornerback, transferred to Houston after two years at Navorro College. He earned All-Conference USA honors last year despite the injury.

The Raiders traded down from No. 3 overall with the D0lphins, and acquired the 12th and 42nd selections.

I liked the pick. I may have preferred Floyd over Hayden but the need at corner was a big one. Plus Mayock had Hayden over Milliner. To read some fans saying McKenzie blew the pick is absurd. How the hell are we going to know if this pick was blown until at least the season starts? It’s simply fans butt hurt over McKenzie not picking “their guy”. Get over it and hope for the best!
