Cain Pummeled Again as Giants Get Swept by Brewers

Matt Cain’s struggles continued on Thursday afternoon, as he allowed seven runs in six innings pitched, allowing the Brewers to sweep the Giants in a three-game series.

Cain allowed three home runs, as Ryan Braun, Yovani Gallardo (the opposing pitcher) and Jonathon Lucroy all went deep en route to a 7-0 lead for the Brewers by the end of the third inning.

The Giants ace is 0-2 with a 7.15 ERA this season, and his team has lost all four of his starts.

“Everything was coming back right to the middle,” Cain said. “I was just not executing pitches at all.”

The one positive note for the Giants was Brandon Crawford, who batted fifth in the lineup and went 3-4 with a home run.

Besides that, it was a downright awful performance by the defending champions, as they were swept out of town by a mediocre Brewers squad.
