Oakland Raiders wide receiver Jacoby Ford was arrested and charged with a DUI last month, but prosecutors have decided not to file charges against him.
According to the Oakland Tribune, the incident took place on March 14 when officers pulled Ford over for tinted windows on his car and speeding. Ford was asked to perform “a series of field sobriety tests, which led officers to believe he was intoxicated,” according to CHP Officer Sam Morgan
Ford was booked into the North County Jail, where he was reportedly released within hours.
“The Raiders organization is aware of the situation involving Jacoby Ford and takes matters such as this very seriously,” a spokesman for the Raiders said.
However, charges will not be pressed against the wide receiver, as announced by a spokeswoman for the Alameda County District Attorney.
Drafted by the Raiders in 2010, Ford provided an immediate spark with 25 receptions, 470 yards, and two touchdowns in his rookie season.
He missed all of last season and half of 2011 with a sprained foot that wound up requiring Lisfranc surgery, but “definitely” expects himself to be at full speed for training camp.
