The Oakland Raiders have waived tackle Jason Slowey, who they signed to a reserve/future contract in January. The former sixth round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers finished the year on the Raiders’ practice squad.
The 6-4, 305 pound Slowey was projected as an NFL guard after playing tackle in college at Western Oregon. He has yet to make is debut in the league.
Oakland has some holes on the offensive line they will target during the rest of the free agency period and the 2013 NFL Draft. Last year’s starting left guard Cooper Carlisle is an unrestricted free agent. Toney Bergstrom, who the Raiders selected with their third round pick last season, is expected to compete for the vacant left guard spot in training camp.
